Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo expressed his frustration over the officiating in Game 2 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors' Cup Finals, claiming that his team was on the receiving end of unfair calls compared to Ginebra. Trillo emphasized the emotional intensity of the game but insisted on holding the referees accountable for inconsistencies.
Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo was visibly furious during a stretch in the third frame when the Bolts were assessed with five straight fouls against none to the side of Ginebra .
“I could be wrong at the time. 5-0 ‘yung fouls and the refs, they are also trying their best to get it right, but just like coaches are called to a higher standard kasi we get fired, I just kept on reminding the referees the same thing. So we have to be on them. It’s nothing personal,” he added. He also noted how Ginebra players were flopping and yet still drawing the fouls while for Meralco’s part, when the Bolts were getting shoved and pushed aside, calls were not going their way.
