In observance of National Mental Health Month, the Quezon City Government further intensified its mental health initiatives through the integration of
psychosocial support and crisis intervention in the city’s Helpline 122.
Patients will then get help from trained helpline operators who are offering non-judgmental and emotional support and information. The 24/7 Helpline is confidential and free.“There are moments when we cannot bear our problems and the challenging thoughts in our lives, so sometimes we need to talk to someone,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.
Crisis responders were trained by the National Center for Mental Health on suicide and crisis management. They were accompanied by health workers who underwent training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Psychological First Aid. Further, the Quezon City Health Department trained over 370 barangay officials and staff on psychological first aid to assist residents process and overcome traumatic experiences.
