7NEWS: Unprovoked Beaconsfield attack on bus leaves man hospitalised for three weeks
A man who has spent weeks in hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted on a bus inNeil, 53, was on the bus in Beaconsfield and was headed to Dandenong around 1pm on Sunday, June 4.
He said he had struck up a conversation with a couple in the seats next to him, who were chatting with him about the AFL.“That is the last thing I really remember,” Neil told reporters on Tuesday. Neil was then “severely assaulted” by a passenger in what has been described as a completely unprovoked attack and blacked out.Neil’s injuries after the attack.Neil said he has no memory of the attack or any interactions, banter or conversations that could have led to it.
“This is one of the most hectic things that has happened to me. I don’t know who did this, I don’t know why,” he said. The 53-year-old was left with a range of serious injuries, including a broken nose and four broken ribs. His lung also collapsed while he was in hospital, where he spent three weeks recovering and underwent two surgeries.
