“In a Broadway show, when they make a mistake, it doesn't stop, right, it keeps going,” said the 45-year-old Cooke, a NHL veteran who won the Stanley Cup alongside Sidney Crosby in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He was officially hired as the fourth head coach in franchise history on Oct. 7. It will be his first professional coaching gig. “I think that being able to dive in on the development level and getting the opportunity to be a head coach and lead the ship was super enticing for me.” He pointed at things like having his name on the office door as something simple that he appreciated.
