San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora expressed hope that the low number of COVID-19 infections in the city would continue despite the threat of the more transmissible Omicron and Delta variants.

During his interview with CNN Philippines on Monday, Zamora said that the decline in active COVID-19 cases in the city can be sustained because of San Juan’s aggressive COVID-19 response and the help of its residents.

Zamora also explained that the Metro Manila Council’s decision to downgrade the National Capital Region’s alert status from 3 to 2 is backed by science and research.
