'Pinangako ko sa inyo na magiging transparent tayo. Baka sa 'kin niyo hanapin ang mga ito pagkatapos ng term ko,' Sotto says.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has ordered all departments in the city to conduct an inventory of their supplies amid the missing ₱1.464 billion flagged by the Commission on Audit ."Pinangako ko sa inyo na magiging transparent tayo. Pampublikong impormasyon ito. Baka sa 'kin niyo hanapin ang mga ito pagkatapos ng term ko," the newly-installed mayor said in a Facebook post.
COA, in its 2018 audit report, noted the physical existence of inventories aggregating ₱1.464 billion cannot be ascertained because Pasig City's report only reflected a total inventory balance of ₱26.550 million. The auditing body also noted the"improperly maintained and incomplete records of the Central Supply Office and the City Accounting Office." It also found inconsistencies and delays in the recording of acquisitions and issuance of supplies.
Sotto, who defeated former Mayor Robert"Bobby" Eusebio, ordered city department heads to do a"physical count" of supplies and materials, then submit a report. The young politician said the inventory is important because the departments will not be able to procure new supplies pending the submission of report.
