BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Albee Benitez announced on Friday that he will provide cash rewards to credible informers on unsolved crimes.
The cash rewards are a proposal of newly installed police chief Bacolod City Police Office director Col. Joeresty Coronica.Lawyer Caesar Distrito said on Sunday that the amount will be announced after the mayor meets Coronica in the next few days.Earlier, Coronica said murders are among the three cases that he will focus on during his tenure as city police chief, the two being illegal drugs and vandalism.
'The city capital of Negros Occidental has been hit by a series of shooting incidents, theft and illegal drugs.Coronica said he has ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Management Unit and police station commanders to present case profiles on the two recent murder cases involving businessmen.Earlier this week, a businessman was shot to death inside his vehicle in Barangay Villamonte.
