Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has presented several programs of the local government to address climate change as well as plans for the environment and better quality of living in the city in her State of the Environment Address 2023. ManilaBulletin

“Bilang isang highly-urbanized at highly-competitive city, napakalaki ng responsibilidad Quezon City pagdating sa climate change. At habang patuloy ang ating pag-unlad, lumalaki rin ang ating pangangailangan sa resources tulad ng enerhiya at tubig. Ang resulta nito ay mas maraming greenhouse gases na magdudulot ng climate change o pagbabago ng klima ,” Belmonte said during her State of the Environment Address posted on the city’s Facebook page on Saturday, April 22.

Belmonte also encouraged the residents to ride bicycles to promote active transportation and decrease emission of carbon. Aside from the programs for transportation, the city also launched the Vote to Tote program where tarpaulins used in the 2022 elections were turned into bags by persons derived of liberty at the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory and other communities.

To build a greener Quezon City, Belmonte said that they conducted tree planting activities and opened more parks in different areas in the city.
