Twenty-eight rockfall events and four volcanic earthquakes were recorded at Mayon Volcano in Albay province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said Wednesday. In the municipality of Guinobatan, some motorists had difficulty passing through roads due to fallen rocks and debris from Mayon Volcano.
Potential lahars and sediment-laden streamflows may occur along the Miisi, Binaan, Anoling, Quirangay, Maninila, Masarawag, Muladbucad, Nasisi, Mabinit, Matan-ag, Bonga, Buyuan, Basud, and Bulawan Channels.“Mayon lahars can threaten communities along the middle and lower slopes and downstream of these channels with inundation, burial, and washout,” said PHIVOLCS. According to PHIVOLCS, Mayon Volcano’s crater glow and plume were also obscured.
