THE Department of Agriculture said that Tropical Depression Maymay and Tropical Depression Neneng's damage to agriculture in the Cordillera Administrative Region , Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley has reached P355.63 million.According to the DA, at least 15,850 hectares of agricultural areas were affected by 'Maymay' and 'Neneng' with total production loss of 25,297 metric tons.'Affected commodities include rice, corn and high value crops,' the DA added.
'The values of damage for 'Maymay' and 'Neneng' were combined as the two tropical cyclones occurred in a span of one week and affected the same agricultural areas in CAR, Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley,' the DA said in its report.At the same time, the DA said that mobile Kadiwa centers will be deployed in areas affected by the two tropical cyclones to stabilize prices and supply of agri-fishery commodities.
