CARL JAMMES MARTIN overcame a slow start to prove once more he is one of the country’s boxing hopes, dismantling Mexican Ruben Tostado Garcia in a non-title super bantamweight fight on Sunday via fifth round technical knockout victory at the Evolution Club in Tijuana, Mexico.
Martin connected on a stunning right left hook with 1:28 left in the fifth round and the 30-year-old Mexican could not recover, forcing the referee to halt the fight.
“Carl Jammes Martin started a little slow and his timing was a little off but when he got the guy with good shots, he finished his opponent really quick,” International matchmaker and Manny Pacquiao’s MP Promotions head Sean Gibbons told BusinessMirror on Sunday.Garcia dominated Martin in the first two rounds, the Filipino pug unable to react to the Mexican’s combinations. But Garcia felt Martin’s power in the third round after being staggered by counter punches.
Martin’s win was also his second in Mexico after he knocked out Anthony Jimenez Salas last September in Sinaloa.
