AN ERROR-PRONE University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons banked on big baskets from CJ Cansino and Jan Felicilda to get away with an 80-76 overtime verdict over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Felicilda, who banged in a game-high 17 points, scored the final basket for UP with seven seconds left off Cansino’s assist. “It was big for us as a team, even though we turned the ball over a lot of times in this game, this is the highest so far with 21. But I think it was just one of those games that we were fortunate that FEU was only able to convert 13 of them ,” said Luanzon.Diouf’s jumper with 1:47 left finally allowed UP to gain some distance, 77-73, in the extra time.
Jorick Bautista poured in 26 points for winless FEU, including the trey that sent the game into overtime with 32 ticks to go.
