The Marikina City Public Information Office (MCPIO) said on Saturday, Oct. 9, that the active COVID-19 cases in the city are now less than 1,000 compared to the tally of 1,144 last Oct. 5.

In its Facebook post, the local government unit said that there are 967 active COVID-19 cases in Marikina, 22,827 recoveries, and 606 deaths as of Oct. 8. Barangay Nangka currently holds the highest number of active cases in the city at 119, with 1,962 recoveries, and 50 deaths. According to the MCPIO, all active cases will be swab-tested again after a 14-day isolation, and the city will also immediately begin contact tracing.

It has also reminded the citizens to continue practicing constant handwashing, wearing of face masks and face shields, and maintaining social distancing.
