Diamond Star Maricel Soriano revealed that her mother, Rosalinda Martinez, played a significant role in her success when she entered show business over 50 years ago.

"Pagsisisihan ninyo yung mga araw na hindi kayo sumunod sa mga magulang ninyo. May kasabihan, mother knows best. She knows what's best for us. Sana lang huwag magbabago. Kung meron man sana sa ikabubuti at ikagaganda. Wala namang pupuntahan eh kung hindi maganda. On Aug. 4, Maricel lost another"mother," Mother Lily Monteverde, a beloved movie producer responsible for her success as an actress in Regal Films, now Regal Entertainment.
"Una nagpapasalamat ako dahil andito pa rin ako hanggang ngayon. Fifty four years in showbiz, ganun na katagal. Ang tanda na di ba? Sabi nila hindi naman daw halata pero hindi rin. Kasi pagnagkita-kita tayo sa mga papeles, andun ang edad," she said.
