President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. personally condoled with the family of slain Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo during his visit to the wake on Wednesday, as he vowed justice and assistance for victims of the brazen attack.
"Nagtatanong lang kami ano dapat gawin para matulungan 'yung mga biktima pati 'yung mga nasa ospital ngayon," Marcos told reporters during the wake held in Dumaguete City.
"Sinabi ko lang sa kanila na makakaasa sila na magkakaroon ng hustisya dito sa inyong probinsya na naging masyadong magulo," he added. [Translation: We just asked what we can do to help the victims, as well as those in the hospital. I just told them that they can expect justice to be served for their province, which has been in a mess.]The governor was gunned down inside his residential compound in Brgy. San Isidro Saturday morning - a case that has sparked calls for justice among colleagues and other government officials.
