President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reappointed and inducted DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual after the CA again suspended deliberations as Congress went into recess for the holidays. | NCorralesINQ /PDI

The powerful congressional body bypassed Pascual, along with Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo, for a second time. They were first bypassed after the CA ran out of time in September. But Tulfo’s appointment was bypassed on legal issues over his citizenship and his earlier conviction for libel while Pascual’s confirmation was held up over political intramurals at the Philippine Economic Zone Authority , an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry.

CA member and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel criticized Pascual for designating Peza deputy director general Tereso Panga to replace former Peza chief Charito Plaza, a former representative of Butuan City, who initially refused to vacate the office.
