President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. left for Jakarta Saturday afternoon to attend the inauguration of Indonesia’s incoming leaders, President-elect
Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka today.
Mr. Marcos made his first international trip as president to Indonesia in 2022, while Widodo visited the Philippines in early 2024, highlighting the strong relationship between the two nations. “From prosperity, we can bring justice to all Indonesian people. We must unite to eliminate poverty and eliminate hunger, and eliminate suffering from our people,” Prabowo said in his victory speech in March.
His big campaign pledge is a $28 billion plan to supply tens of millions of schoolchildren and pregnant women nationwide with free meals.
