President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

is not keen on designating a czar to lead the government's response to the oil spill from a sunken ship in the waters off Oriental Mindoro.Speaking to reporters, Marcos said the Philippine Coast Guard , led by its commandant Admiral Artemio Abu, is already leading the task.'There's no need to reorganize something for everything.

As of Monday, the oil spill has affected over 150,000 individuals or 32,000 families in Mimaropa and Western Visayas.Presidential Communications Cheloy Garafil said the national government, local government units, nongovernment organizations and other partners have provided P28.3 million worth of humanitarian assistance to the affected families. The DSWD is currently implementing a 45-day, cash-for-work program involving 7,198 families , which started last March 6 and extended until May.
