PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the lifting of the mandatory price cap on regular- and well-milled rice, which the government implemented last month amid the surge in its price.
The DA earlier said that the decrease in the global prices of rice, as well as the increase in supply brought about by the local harvest are among the factors that were considered by the agency for the lifting of the price cap: P41 per kilogram for regular-milled rice and P45 per kilogram on well-milled rice.
The government also distributed the 42,180 sacks of smuggled rice recovered by the Bureau of Customs in Zamboanga City to poor Filipino families in the province, as well as in Cavite and Taguig City.
