The CBSP was created under the directives of former president Rodrigo Duterte upon the Cabinet’s approval on November 3, 2016. The program was institutionalized through Executive Order No. 110, which provides different types of benefits and assistance, such as “special financial assistance, scholarship, special welfare assistance, health and medical care assistance, shelter assistance, and employment assistance.
“Ang okasyong ito ay nagdudulot sa atin ng magkahalong emosyon, panghihinayang sapagkat ang ibang mahal sa buhay ay wala na sa atin upang makipagsaya at kasiyahan sapagkat ang kanilang kabayanihan ang dahilan kung bakit tayo’y nagtitipon tipon ngayon. Alay natin ang araw na ito bilang pagpupugay sa mga bayani ng bansang makabayan. Kailan man hindi natin masusuklian ang serbisyo na kanilang inilaan upang mapanatiling mapayapa at ligtas at maayos ang ating komunidad,” Marcos said in his speech.
Likewise, the CSBP shelter assistance component benefited a total of 443 AFP, and 119 PNP beneficiaries amounting to a total of P252 million to grant houses and lots with a maximum subsidy of P450,000 for each unit.
