President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be visiting the United Arab Emirates, and a caretaker committee has been appointed to handle affairs in his absence. This marks a shift from previous arrangements where Vice President Sara Duterte served as caretaker during the president's foreign trips.
Malacañang on Monday announced the caretakers of the country when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr . departs for a working visit to the United Arab Emirates. According to Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III will be part of the caretake committee.
Before, it was Vice President Sara Duterte who was designated caretaker when Marcos was on official trips abroad. In UAE, Marcos will meet with his counterpart, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, November 26. Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Ambassador Alfonso A. Ver earlier said the visit 'marks a significant and symbolic milestone in the history of our relations, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UAE.'The Palace, meanwhile, said it is hopeful that agreements would be forged during Marcos' visit to UAE. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA Integrated New
