President Marcos congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for obtaining a third consecutive term following his victory in the world’s largest democratic election.
“The last decade has shown India as a sincere friend to the Philippines, and I look forward to further strengthening our bilateral and regional partnership in the years ahead,” he added. The Hindu nationalist party of Modi agreed with allies Wednesday to form a government after a general election in which it failed to secure an outright majority for the first time in a decade.
“We all unanimously choose respected NDA leader Narendra Modi as our leader,” a BJP-issued alliance statement said.
