PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has strongly condemned the actions of a People’s Liberation Army–Air Force aircraft over Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc that has posed an imminent danger to personnel of Philippine Air Force .In a statement, Marcos denounced the “unjustified, illegal, and reckless actions” of China that could have resulted in a collision with a Philippine aircraft, which was then conducting a routine maritime security operation over the country’s sovereign airspace. .
Marcos said the “instability” in the country’s airspace goes hand-in-hand with the challenge amid China’s claim in the seas in the West Philippine Sea.He committed, however, to maintain proper diplomacy and peaceful means of resolving disputes, noting that China should demonstrate full capability to act responsibly both in seas and in skies.
