CARMEN, Davao del Norte: Despite being in the bailiwick of his predecessor, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday threw punches at former president Rodrigo Duterte over his grim remark about killing 15 senators to make way for his nine-man ticket for the upcoming midterm elections.

The President continued his tirades against Duterte when he campaigned for the administration's Senate slate here. 'We just heard the other day, maybe they stand no chance, that's why they'll just have to kill 15 senators,' Marcos said in his speech. 'On the other hand, the problem with this person, the only solution he has in every problem is to kill a Filipino,' he added.

Former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos, for his part, underscored the importance of directly engaging Mindanao voters, seeing the campaign as an opportunity to introduce Alyansa to a wider audience.'This kind of press conference is very important. I hope we get to know each other well. Thank you to the people of Davao, Mindanao for accepting us here,' he said.
