Professional Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial settled for the silver medal after bowing to Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan of China via unanimous decision in the 19th Asian Games men's 80kg division at the Hangzhou Gymnasium on Thursday evening, October 5.
Each of the five judges scored 29-28 in favor of Tanglatihan in the three-round bout.Marcial won the first round as he shook Tanglatihan with his dreaded right hook. With 37 seconds remaining in the round, the Chinese received a standing eight-count.
Tanglatihan, however, returned the favor in the second round as he unleashed a series of punches that connected on the shaken Filipino and the referee counted eight on Marcial with 1:30 to go.The final round could have gone either way but the judges saw enough grit and aggressiveness from the hometown bet and gave him the victory.
