At the change of command and retirement honors for Acorda at Camp Crame, President Marcos ordered Marbil to ensure that PNP personnel would be “agents of transformation” and to lead a police force that is “pro-God, pro-country, pro-people, pro-environment.”“Let us work closely with you in addressing emerging threats, such as cybercrime, terrorism and transnational crimes.
He also mentioned the results of a recent OCTA Research poll, which indicated that the PNP was the third highest performing and most trusted among 25 state agencies in the second quarter of 2023. According to Marcos, the PNP’s efforts in combating various forms of crime have yielded “tangible results.”
Acorda, who was installed as PNP chief on April 24, 2023, reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 last Dec. 3. However, Marcos extended his term until March 31. “In the exigency of the service and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of service, please be informed that Police Lieutenant General Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta is designated as concurrent officer-in-charge, Office of the Chief, PNP, effective 31 March 2024, until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this office,” a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin read.
