If the prestige property market is anything to go by, the reigning royals in Sydney’s exclusive harbourside suburbs are Atlassian's co-founders
It was former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull who once earned the moniker Prince of Point Piper. But if the prestige property market is anything to go by, the reigning royals in Sydney’s exclusive harbourside suburbs are Atlassian co-founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar., a four-bedroom Scottish-style baronial castle with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour.
Right next door, in Point Piper, is another Fairfax jewel prised away by the Atlassian aristocrats – the 1.1-hectare Fairwater estate, bought by Cannon-Brookes in 2018 from the estate of the late Lady Mary Fairfax. With a $100 million price tag, it held the record for Australia’s most expensive house before that was shattered by Farquhar last week.
Insiders in the exclusive world of luxury real estate were otherwise reluctant to comment for this article, noting the intense secrecy with which Cannon-Brookes and Farquhar conduct their property dealings. In August, Farquhar picked up a $10.85 million five-bedroom holiday home aton the Central Coast, a stone’s throw from another $3.57 million pad he bought in the area in 2010. The move east came after Farquhar’s family outgrew a $1.6 million two-bedder in Pyrmont.
But Farquhar’s recent buys are dwarfed by his long-term business partner and fellow outspoken renewable energy advocate Cannon-Brookes, who has amassed a portfolio worth about $290 million.

Ron DeSantis’ ‘gracious’ act to ‘Libs of TikTok’ creator revealedFlorida Governor Ron DeSantis has become the subject of praise after the creator of influential Twitter account 'Libs of TikTok' revealed the 'kind-hearted' Florida governor had offered her his mansion's guest house for her protection. Chaya Raichik, a formerly anonymous creator, revealed her face for the first time in an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday (local time). Ms Raichik was revealed to be the creator behind the Libs of TikTok account by a Washington Post article back in April, which she said exposed her to threats and intimidation. The account, which posts TikTok videos from liberals and progressives, has generated more than 1.7 million followers. Ms Raichik told Tucker of Mr DeSantis' generosity, telling the Fox News host one of the governor's staffers had reached out to her after her identity was revealed. 'He said, if you don’t feel safe or you or your family, if you need a place to go, to hide, to stay here, you can come to the governor’s mansion,' she told Tucker Carlson. 'We have a guest house for you and you can come and stay as long as you need.'
