Michael Stephen Pacquiao, the 22-year-old son of boxing icon and reelectionist senator Manny Pacquiao , has filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor of General Santos City.He will run under the People's Champ Movement, a local political party."I believe it's time for the younger generation to take an active role in shaping our city's future. I want to focus on education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development," Michael said in a statement.
He replied, "It is my decision naman, I have my own goals here ... I was inspired by my dad to be involved in politics."Manny and his wife, Jinky, accompanied Michael in filing the COC.The elder Pacquiao is seeking reelection as part of the senatorial slate of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos' Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas.Prior to his foray into politics, Michael ventured into hip-hop and rap music.
