Electric tricycles will be allowed on the streets of the capital again after Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso lifted theMoreno told e-tricycle drivers in a dialogue that the city government is allowing them to operate again pending a new ordinance that would regulate them, provided that they organize themselves, follow traffic rules and avoid major thoroughfares.
Moreno told e-tricycle drivers that they will be registered as three-wheeled vehicles, like pedicabs in the city, and will be made to pay taxes. E-trikes were seized last week and impounded near the Manila North Cemetery. They will be released to their owners tomorrow.last week following a meeting with the Metro Manila Development Authority . The Manila City government said MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said e-trikes are classified as “toys” by the national government.
