Water tankers deployed by the Manila City government on Wednesday sprayed water along España Boulevard to alleviate the heat.According to state weather bureau PAGASA, more parts of the Philippines may have to endure the blistering heat as it sees heat index spiking between 45°C and 54.8°C in May. Heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels, which is different from the actual air temperature. It is computed by factoring in the humidity and the air temperature.
Due to the extreme heat, the Manila City government, in accordance with Executive Order No. 22 s. 2024, has adjusted the working hours in the city to 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Thursday, May 2.
