Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) inaugurated the Phase 2 expansion of its newly renovated Operating Room Complex (ORC), increasing the total number of operating theaters to 14 and providing state-of-the-art facilities for enhanced surgical care.
Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) officially inaugurated the 879 square meter Phase 2 of its newly renovated Operating Room Complex (ORC) on February 7, 2025. This expansion brings the total floor area of the ORC to 1,749 square meters, encompassing nine renovated operating rooms, increasing the total number of theaters to 14 from the previous 10.
The Phase 2 also includes a 15-bed recovery room, two isolation rooms, and more spacious and comfortable areas for doctors, nurses, staff, patients, and their families. The newly renovated ORC boasts state-of-the-art equipment and facilities designed to enhance surgical procedures and patient care. Last July 2024, MDH opened the Phase 1 of the new ORC, which featured five operating theaters, including two Ophthalmology rooms, one ENT-ORL theater, and two minor rooms. The Phase 1 spanned a total floor area of 870 square meters. The construction and expansion of the ORC facility aim to meet the growing demand for surgical procedures by providing a more modern and equipped environment.The renovation and expansion of the ORC Phase 1 commenced in February 2024 and concluded in July 2024, while the Phase 2's renovation was completed within five months, starting in August 2024. MDH President Arlene Ledesma highlighted that these improvements are part of the hospital's ongoing efforts to upgrade and future-proof its facilities. She emphasized the benefits of the renovation, stating that it extends to all stakeholders involved in surgical procedures and medical care, allowing for an elevated level of patient care and a smoother healing journey
