MANILA, Philippines — A gun ban is now in effect in Manila on Thursday as part of security measures for the Black Nazarene motorcade.
MPD District Director Andre Dizon said the city had imposed a strict suspension of Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence for two consecutive days in Manila from 12:01 a.m. of April 6, 2023, to 11:59 p.m. of April 7, 2023.“The policies on gun ban are placed for the protection of everybody,” Dizon said in a statement.
“One of the priorities of our men and women on the ground is to strictly enforce these policies. I urge all elements to use the power of persuasion in dealing with the public to avoid the unnecessary use of violence,” he added.The Black Nazarene motorcade will begin on Good Friday, April 7, around Quiapo, Manila.One of the most important religious events for the Catholics, Holy Week is revered as the most sacred week in the liturgical year in Christianity.Your subscription has been successful.
