Managing the data center opportunity
IN The Manila Times' Outsourcing and Offshoring Forum on Nov. 28, a point that was emphasized during the discussion is the economic opportunity presented by the explosive growth of data centers, which is being driven by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in all manner of applications. Data centers are indeed a potential gold mine for the Philippines, and we believe that the opportunity should be maximized.
A 2019 study from the University of Massachusetts estimated that training a single large language model for AI produces approximately 956,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide , assuming that most of the energy used comes from conventional generation sources.
