The Batangas police said in a report Tuesday, Feb. 7, that Elmerto Tiosan and Mario Valencia, both construction workers, were digging around 3:30 p.m. for a drainage system in a vacant lot in Barangay Bubuyan.Suddenly, the upper portion of the land at their work area collapsed, and the dislodged soil buried both workers.
Rescuers found Tiosan’s body under the mountain of soil, while Valencia survived and taken to the San Jose District Hospital in neighboring San Jose town.
