BACOLOD CITY - An unidentified man was found dead near a creek in a sugarcane field at Barangay Vista Alegre here early this week.

Insp. Florentino Abalayan, head of Police Station 7, said the victim was found by a resident, after he heard three gunshots in the area on Wednesday.Abalayan, however, cannot tell if those were gunshot wounds, though police recovered an empty shell of .45 caliber from the scene. Abalayan said a witness saw a man on board a motorcycle leaving the vicinity, when he came out of his house to check on where the gunshots came from.
Abalayan said they still could not determine the motive behind the killing since they have not known the victim’s identity yet. It was the third shooting incident that occurred in the village since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine here due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Of the three incidents, two were fatal shootings.
