New South Police have charged a man following a wild car chase across western Sydney which saw a constable"flung" over a moving vehicle and more than 20 shots fired.
When the 21-year-old driver failed to stop, police began a pursuit calling in backup from Highway Patrol and a PolAir helicopter. The constable was assessed quickly by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment, he was later released and is presumed unharmed. The 21-year-old again managed a successful escape, before making a brief stop to drop off a passenger, another 21-year old man, and heading toward the M7.
However, the 21-year-old began to encounter traffic around Katoomba forcing him to perform a U-turn and providing police with an opening.
