A man has been charged by police after he allegedly made death threats against Brittany Higgins, her fiance and her dog.

David William Wonnocott, 49, was arrested by counter-terrorism detectives from Tweed Heads police station in northern NSW on Wednesday about 10am.

Police allege they found 49 messages sent by Wonnocott from multiple social media accounts which were threatening or offensive in nature. Wonnocott was charged with using a carriage service to make a threat to kill and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
