President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed a memorandum deputizing the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other instrumentalities of the government for the safety and security of the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls
Memorandum Order No. 15 was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin under the authority of Marcos on July 17, a copy of the memorandum showed.
“The foregoing law enforcement agencies and other concerned agencies are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the Comelec in the performance of their duties and functions,” it added. Under Section 2 , Article IX-C of the Philippine Constitution, the poll body can deputize law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including the AFP, with the concurrence of the President.
