Makati LGU revives free movies for senior citizens

The local government of Makati City has revived its program of free movies for senior citizens after it was halted at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Abby Binay said a total of 82,617 senior citizens who are Blu card members and Makatizen Virtual Card holders could avail these free movies.

"The past years have been challenging for everyone, particularly our senior citizens who were among the most vulnerable during the health crisis. By reinstating this initiative, we aim to provide them with a much-needed avenue for entertainment, joy, and social engagement," Binay said in a press release.

She said senior citizens could watch movies for free in Glorietta, Greenbelt, and Circuit Makati, three times a day for the first and second screenings. Binay said senior citizens who are active Blu Card members and Makatizen Card holders need to download their Makatizen Virtual Card atMeanwhile, she said the city government also plans to include persons with disabilities in the program this year and expand the number of cinema partners to include Power Plant Mall and Walter Mart.
