"Police are urging drivers to take care and think of other road users after three people died following road crashes on the first day of Operation Christmas/New Year 2022," NSW Police wrote in a statement on Saturday. Police said harsh penalties apply for speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt, and motorcycle helmet offences.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander Brett McFadden said it was"tragic to see three lives had been lost" on the first day of Christmas operations.
