Police are forced to conduct a number of rescues amid flooding in western parts of the Northern Territory, as the remnants of ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie move inland.

The tropical monsoon and ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie are bringing once-in-50-year rainfall totals to parts of the NT.Overnight, emergency services received calls for help from residents from the Gilwi and Myatt outstations off the Victoria Highway.Loading Facebook content "Timber Creek Police and a local ranger responded, assisting a number of residents to traverse flooded roadways and get to safe shelter at Timber Creek," NT Police said in a statement last night.Ms Anderson said police did good work in the difficult conditions.
