Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno says that Philippine citizenship is not a requirement for individuals aspiring to become Maharlika Investment Corp.'s independent directors selected from the private sector.
Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno disclosed that applications for director positions at the Maharlika Investment Corp. have started to arrive, including submissions from expatriates. “We're collecting recommendations,” Diokno responded when asked whether the Marcos administration has initiated the search for potential directors. “They don't have to be Filipino citizens, but they have to have the right potential.”Diokno shared the case of Filipino businessman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, who currently holds a director position at Temasek Holdings Limited, a sovereign wealth fund of Singapore.
Additionally, the board will include the presidents and CEOs of both the Landbank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines.
