Even if it has been 10 years since the 2009 Maguindanao massacre, the government prosecution team remains concerned for their security.
“The threats have always been there,” Senior Deputy Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon said on Wednesday .
Fadullon, who headed the prosecution team until 2011, disclosed that members of the prosecution team received threats during the first few years of the case “Only about 100 plus [of those] who were tried are under detention,” he said. “And then the participants in the case, look at the accused, they come from a political family, and some of them are in power right now.”
The principal accused are brothers Shariff Saydona Mustapha town mayor Sajid Ampatuan, former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor Zaldy Ampatuan, and former Datu Unsay town mayor Andal Ampatuan.
