A magnitude 6.4 earthquake took place Wednesday night in Davao Occidental, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs director Teresito 'Toto' Bacolcol said the tremor occured around 7:21 p.m. some 66 kilometers south-east of Sarangani Island.Tectonic in origin, the earthquake has a depth of focus of 139kms, Bacolcol said.He said Intensity 5 was felt by residents in Sarangani and Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Kiamba and Malungon, Sarangani; and City of Digos, Davao del Sur.
Meanwhile, Intensity 2 was felt in Zamboanga City; Antipas, Arakan, Libungan, and President Roxas, Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat; San Fernando, and Kalilangan, Bukidon; City of Gingoog, Misamis Oriental; Tantangan, South Cotabato; Cotabato City; Datu Odin Sinsuat, and Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte and Intensity 1 in Cagayan de Oro City; Pangantucan, and Cabanglasan, Bukidnon; and Aleosan, Cotabato.
