MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake again shook Abra, specifically in the town of Tayum early Thursday morning, July 28, 2022, the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and was recorded at exactly 4:02 am with a depth of 17 kilometers.“This is an aftershock of the 27 July 2022 M7.0 Northwestern Luzon Earthquake,” said Phivolcs.

The intensity of the earthquake was initially reported as 5.1, but was slightly downgraded, as of 5:37 a.m. Phivolcs said that Intensity IV was felt in Bangued, Abra, while Instrumental Intensities were felt in the following areas:Intensity III in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Tabuk, KalingaIntensity I in Baguio City, Benguet; Claveria, CagayanMeanwhile, a few hours before this, magnitude 4.2 and 4.8 earthquakes were also reported in Tayum, Abra and Suyo, Ilocos Sur at 3:50 a.m., and 2:43 a.m., respectively.
