An earthquake with a magnitude measuring 3.6 hit Nueva Ecija on Saturday evening, Jan. 7, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology .

The said quake occurred around 7:49 according to state seismologists. Its epicenter was traced 9 kilometers northeast of Lupao, Nueva Ecija. It was also tectonic in origin, which means that it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area. Due to this quake, an instrumental intensity I was recorded in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija and Umingan, Pangasinan.
