When San Sebastian College-Recoletos needed a spark plug amidst a comeback attempt against Lyceum of the Philippines University, the Stags took a gamble and injected Ralph Gabat into the game.
That decision from head coach Arvin Bonleon and his coaching staff paid off with the seldom-used guard fueling a 12-0 closing run that saw them take a 95-93 win over the Pirates.
"Of course dahil ‘yan sa brilliant coaches ko, nag-change kami ng defense, talagang small ball kami at all out lang. Magic bunot ," Bonleon said in the post-game interview. Gabat shot two clutch and-ones in the final minute that allowed the Stags to turn things around. Those two ended up the only field goals Gabat managed to collect throughout the game, but turned out the most important ones.
