Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says it was a “mad idea” for the Liberal Party to sign up to net zero emissions “absurdity”.
“While ever we’re committed to net zero emissions, we still have to answer the question … if you’re not going to shut down our steaks the next ten years, you committed to do it by 2050,” he told Sky News Australia.“I know there’s a number of committed people in the Coalition to try and get us to return to the land of common sense – which is defending Western values, making sure we defend Western industry.
“And, most of all, making sure we do not succumb to the pressures being imposed on the West by dictatorial authoritarian regimes like the Chinese Communist Party and Vladimir Putin’s Russia.”
