LAND Transportation Office (LTO) chief Jose Arturo 'Jay Art' Tugade said on Wednesday that a technical working group is studying how the agency can further improve the delivery of its services.

'They are carefully reviewing those that need to be changed, if there are things that need to be compressed and to improve on our existing policies and systems to make applications and renewals more convenient to the public,' said Tugade in a public briefing. He said the LTO is finding ways to fast-track the medical examinations and the processing of compulsory third party liability insurance.

'There's no empirical data saying that the periodic medical examination could prevent road crashes,' said Tugade. The mandatory medical examination will only be required before applying for, and during the renewal, of a driver's license.
