The Land Transportation Office (LTO) of the Philippines revoked 984 driver's licenses last year due to various offenses, with the majority stemming from violations of the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act. The LTO chief stated that the license revocations followed due process and were part of a campaign promoting responsible driving and road safety.

The Land Transportation Office cancelled a total of 984 driver’s licenses last year for various offenses, many of them due to violations of driving while under the influence of alcohol.LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said the revoked licenses included those from errant motorists who appeared in videos that went viral on social media that were either reported by concerned individuals to the LTO or monitored by the agency itself.

There were 94 licenses also revoked for violation of RA 10930, the act that extended the validity of driver’s license and penalizes acts in violation of its issuance and application. Some of the violations under this law included having double licenses, falsification of documents, and cheating during examinations.Twenty-four licenses were also revoked over viral videos on social media and other complaints lodged before the LTO central office.
